Exploring the 2G Experience with authors of
The Ones Who Remember: Second-Generation Voices of the Holocaust.

How do we honor the legacy of our parents who survived the Holocaust while at the same time recognizing the ripples of the inherited trauma we’ve experienced? Growing up in the shadow of the Holocaust, many adult children of survivors are striving to find ways to keep their parents’ stories alive. Using their unique intergenerational lens, multiple authors of the recent award-winning anthology, The Ones Who Remember: Second Generation Voices of the Holocaust, will reveal the variety of ways in which their parents’ history of survival seeped into their souls and affected their lives as children and adults.

In this four-session series, we will explore not only the challenges that resulted from this trauma but also the gifts that came forth – the gifts of resilience, tolerance, fortitude and compassion. Each week, contributing authors will share reflections around themes of their lived experience, and will invite participants to engage with them in meaningful discussion. The discussions will be moderated by Rita Benn, Joy Wolfe Ensor and Ruth Wade, co-editors (and authors) of this published work.
